Our Climate Action Plan

Commitment to Sustainability:

As a school we are committed to fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental consciousness. Our school has embarked on a journey towards becoming a greener and more sustainable institution, recognising the critical role we play in shaping the future for our students. We believe in empowering our children to be stewards of the environment, understanding the urgent need to address climate concerns. Through engaging and educational initiatives, we aim to inspire our students to make a positive impact not only within our school community but also in their homes and for the future. We encourage them to take the pledge to embrace sustainable practices, encouraging a mindset that transcends the classroom, making them aware of their environmental footprint as they grow older. Together, we strive to create a generation that is not only academically proficient but also environmentally conscious, capable of contributing to a healthier, more sustainable world.

Did you know we are a Green flag eco-school

Take a look at some of the highlights below:

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have officially been awarded Green Flag Eco-School status with Distinction!

Each year, we create a sustainability action plan that reflects our commitment to protecting the environment and building a greener future. Through this plan, we identify key areas of climate action and sustainability that we pledge to focus on as a school community. Over the years, this has led to some fantastic projects, including the creation of wildlife habitats such as our pond and wildflower meadow. More recently, we have developed our sensory garden, which has provided wonderful opportunities to plant trees and establish hedgerows, helping to enhance biodiversity across our grounds.

One of our long-term goals over the past few years has been to achieve recognition as a Green Flag Eco-School. This involved completing a rigorous application process that showcased our work across a wide range of areas, including environmental conservation, energy efficiency, pupil leadership, curriculum links, and community engagement.

We submitted our application just before the half-term break and were thrilled to learn that not only had we achieved Green Flag status, but we were also awarded an overall Distinction. This is a tremendous achievement and a testament to the dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work of our pupils, staff, and wider school community.

We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to continuing our journey towards a more sustainable future. Take a look at some of the highlights from our assessor's feedback below.

As part of our commitment to conservation we have created two new areas in our school grounds for wildlife to thrive. Take a look at our new wild pond area and wildflower garden. It has been a joy to watch dragon flies, water boatman, pond skaters and frogs thrive in our pond and our wildflower garden was a haven for pollinators!
