What are governors?
The governors are collectively responsible for promoting well-being, high standards and the best quality education within the school. They are elected or appointed for a four year term of office.
The governors establish school strategic policy relating to curriculum, staffing, buildings, finance, resources and the community. These policies are determined in consultation with the Headteacher, who has responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school. A key to all the roles, and which governor has that responsibility, is set out in the table below
Governors' meetings are held every half term, the minutes of which are available in the school foyer, as well as being on this site (see below).
Finally, the governors’ termly newsletter, The Core, is emailed out to parents, and is also available via this site. This is issued termly, and over the year it deals with key issues that have been addressed, including an assessment of the impact of the governing body on the school.
Who are the current governors?
The Governing Body is made up of the people set out in the table below, with their responsibilities. Also included is the Register of Governors’ Interests and governors' attendance at meetings, in accordance with legal requirements.
How can I contact the Governing Body?
All governors can be contacted in writing c/o the school office
or by email adminoffice@orchard-inf.hants.sch.uk indicating that you wish your correspondence to be passed onto the governing body.
If you have a complaint about the school, please refer to the school complaints policy for details of whom you should contact in the first instance and the next steps involved if you are still unhappy. If having followed the steps in our complaints policy, you need to contact the Chair of Governors, they can be contacted via an email to
